The Online Master of Arts in Education with Early Childhood and Special Education from East Bridge College provides interdisciplinary preparation for teaching job in the early childhood sector with specific on children with special educational needs. You can effectively teach children at all ability levels after completion of this master’s course in both general and inclusive classrooms for grades 1–5. This course aims to link pedagogical theory and practice so that you are able to work collaboratively to deliver a quality education to children in both general and special education settings.

This particular Master’s program focuses on the varied aspects of special education in early childhood setting. You will develop insights and understandings relating to how children are understood from a range of academic and professional perspectives and to understand the philosophies behind early childhood learning, beliefs and attitudes. The focus on children with special needs and /or disabilities will broaden your knowledge of inclusion and diversity in the early years and develop your skills to come up with effective strategies to teach children with additional needs. Global research on early childhood pedagogical strategies suggest that teachers need to be sensitive to the individual needs of children and provide resources that align with those needs which will stimulate student thinking to advance their learning.

Upon completion of the Master in Education with Early Childhood & Special Education, learners will be able to:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge in educational psychology and childhood theories, developmental aspects of children and their holistic growth as early years comprise a formative and critical period in an individual’s life.
  • Help young learners to work at their own pace and level with appropriate support and intervention and review students who need to work at a slower pace and students who work more quickly to further challenge to develop their work with activities which extend and enrich their learning experience.
  • Identify disabilities and design lesson plans suitable for learners with varying disabilities in an inclusive classroom. Will be adept at focusing on real scenarios and design lessons that are meaningful to the students. Can use appropriate, differentiated materials to suit the students of different abilities.
  • Devise strategies to address the different intellectual, emotional, and behavioral needs of the young learners and anticipate what the barriers are in learning particular activities, lessons which may pose for students with learning disabilities.
  • Implement approaches to work with children in inclusive settings, including teaching them in a manner to stimulate their interest and enthusiasm in learning by drawing on real and familiar contexts which are relevant to students’ lives.
  • Take a proactive, systematic and comprehensive approach to teaching young learners in regular and inclusive classrooms and apply the best practices of classroom instruction and apply the practical knowledge appropriately in the development of curricula and instructional strategies.

Admission to the Master of Arts in Education with Early Childhood Studies and Special Education is open to students from all disciplines.

  • Recognised Bachelor Degree in any field or Equivalent level
  • Life Experience and prior learning credits are available
  • English Level – IELTS Level 5.0 or High School study of all subjects in English or at least 55% marks in English in your High School is desired
  • Knowledge of Internet and browsing, MS Word and Online Research Skill is desired

Program Requirement

All our Master program under Faculty of Education has four distinct part:

  • Part One – Foundation Course which comprises of 10 credits and 2 Subject
  • Part Two – Core Program comes with 30 credits and 6 Subjects
  • Part Three – Specialization of Subjects comes with 20 credits divided into 4 Specialized subjects
  • Part Four – Capstone Project which is a reflective research work comprises of 30 credits

To receive a degree in the programme of study the student must achieve the following:

  • Complete and successfully pass Foundation, Core, Specialization and Capstone Project as prescribed in the programme specification.
  • Obtain a mark of 50% and above to satisfactorily pass each subject as the Capstone Project.
  • Complete the full programme of study in minimum duration of 12 months, and a maximum duration of up to 24 months. After 30 month's duration from enrollment date, the student would need to pay a maintenance bench fee for additional months of extension.
  • Students can attend 6 Live Online Webinar Sessions during the year and use one of that as a Capstone Project to complete a reflective paper.

  1. Prepare a paper on any one topic of by attending a one live online webinar from EBC – 5000 words
  2. Attend any seminar in Education in your region and create a reflective paper on the same – 5000 words
  3. Research Paper – Creating a Supportive Inclusive Learning Environment for pre-primary learners – 5000 words

East Bridge College offers tuition scholarships and financial aid for its online learning degree programs. The tuition scholarship fund for distance learning degree programs will be granted depending on the policy and the Dean’s office from time to time. Upon request, EBC may offer you: Academic Scholarship, Athletic Scholarship, Creative Scholarships and Community Service Scholarship.

Refund Policy

Once students register for a course, they are responsible for dropping any course they decide not to attend.

  • Once you have enrolled in the program and you wish to immediately pull out before any access has been granted - 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded
  • No refund for students who have received course access and have already started off with the program from EBC
